Hey hey legends! So, sometime overnight, the blog, hit a major milestone with 10,000 views from nearly 7,000 visitors. I just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you awesome people who took the time to check out my posts.
Since I launched The Swoop back in November 2022, I’ve put out 43 posts, and it seems you all loved the one titled “How to Fly with Your Rig” the most, racking up a whopping 576 views. I’m totally stoked.
Besides running The Swoop, you probably already know that I’m also behind Jump Junkie page. That’s where I organize events all year round mainly in NSW at Skydive Oz, Sydney Skydivers, and Skydive Elderslie, including my big event for the year, “Pride Boogie” which will be heading into its third outing this November, with not just one, but two planes!
I’m also scour the interwebs on a weekly basis, keeping you all in the loop about skydiving events across Australia on the Skydiving Events Australia page. And I’m also behind the CarbonFreeFall initiative which seeks to offsetting your skydiving-related carbon emissions by donating to Greenfleet, who’s busy restoring native forests all over this beautiful country of ours.
Not bad for a one man band.
In real life, I’m an environmental and regulatory lawyer working in the aviation industry. It’s pretty full on, but because I’m a glutton for punishment I’m about to start some post-graduate studies.
So why am I telling you all of this? Basically, to ask for your help. I love what I do and being busy, but it would be awesome to share the love a little with this blog. So, this post is all about taking the opportunity to invite you lot to become contributors to The Swoop.
Got something awesome happening at your drop zone that you want the world to know about? Wanna rant about skydiving or have a burning question you need answers to? Or maybe you’ve got a safety story that needs to be shared. I’m all ears, and would be totally stoked to have you on board, whether it’s a one-off thing or you if you wanted to write something more regular!
And just to reassure you, it doesn’t matter if you don’t think your writing skills are much chop. Neither are mine to be honest. But I have some tricks up my sleeve and I’m here to help. Just shoot me the bones of your story or some detailed points, and I’ll work some magic to make it shine. Of course, if you’re up for it, feel free to flex your writing muscles and show off your skills.
It would be awesome to have someone at each drop zone, keeping their ears open for stories and ideas. So don’t be shy—get in touch!
Right Oh, it’s a gear up call at Skydive Oz. Time for me to try and figure out those back transitions in my wingsuit. Let’s just say I’m a total hot mess when it comes to that, but hey, I’m an expert in uncontrolled spins and landing off.
