What’s On – w/c 9 January

Happy New Year you lot,

I hope you had a blast over Christmas and New Year and got lots of jumps in 😊.  I spent the break at Skydive Oz and had a heap of fun in the bat suit and hanging out with the crew.

As for events. there’s loads happening across the country so without further ado here’s your weekly round up of upcoming events.

Week commencing Monday 10th January

Over the weekend of the 14th / 15th January SASPC will be hosting a working bee to get the DZ all spruced up for the jumping year.  Go get involved and sign up for some of the odd jobs that need doing.

Meanwhile up at one of my favourite DZs, Skydive Elderslie, the Newcastle Sport Parachute Club are hosting Angles with Tayne Farrant and Elios Eleftherios.  You know it’s going to be awesome with these two coaching.

Week commencing Monday 17th January

Belly Bash with Dawn and Chris is back at Skydive Ramblers on the weekend of the 21st / 22nd January.  Got your B Licence and not sure what to do next?  Bored of the same old jumps?  Or looking to fine tune your FS skills? Then get involved with this all-abilities event celebrating the fine art of belly jumping.

Further South, Commandos are having a belated Christmas Party on Saturday 21st.  Dress up theme is Christmas, the club will hand out their annual awards there will even be a game of Bad Secret Santa to keep you going.  Heaps of fun.

Week commencing 23rd January

Woot Woot!  Long weekend ahead and there a few events planned to help you make the most of it.

First up, one for the Swoopers.  Sydney Skydivers will be hosting the next instalment of Pond Froth from 26th to 28th January.  All Beef are doing the day tapes and expect a heap of awesome pond action at Picton.  Even if you’re not jumping it’ll be worth heading down just to watch the guys and gals in action.

Next up, the legends at Skydive Port Macquarie are bring back the helicopter 😊.  That’s right it’s Smorgasbord 3.0 from the 27th to 29th January.  So lock up your grannies and hide the animals and get working on those ab crunches for some heli hang goodness.  It’s going to be epic.

But if you fancy something a little more casual, I’m organising a pretty chill four day Blue Skies Long Weekender at Skydive Oz from 26th to 29 January.  Definitely not a boogie, just good times with some epic load organisers to keep you entertained!

Over in SA, Simon Colmer will be doing some Canopy Coaching over at SA Skydiving.  It’s a great opportunity to learn from one of the best so head on over to event and register now!

Week commencing 30th January

And to round out the month, the next instalment of Learning Curve kicks off at Skydive Ramblers. It’s an awesome opportunity to improve your skydiving skills and knowledge, both in the air and on the ground. Definitely worth your time and effort.

That’s your lot for January!

For a complete list of events that I know about jump over to the Events page and check them out.

Can’t see your event?  Either add “Skydiving Events Australia” as a co-host or tag ‘Marcus Bourget’ in the event and I’ll make sure to add it.

One final note, some of the Fun Jumper pages don’t like me posting the What’s On update if they’re not hosting an event.  Can’t see the wood for the trees as far as I’m concerned but I don’t make the rules.

If you’d like to see this update on your Fun Jumper page, go have a word with your admin.  This is about creating community across the country – not little pockets of fun jumpers in DZ ivory towers!

Cheers frothers!

Marcus
